Hon Kwok City Center; Shenzhen, China329 m I 1081 ft -tall I 80 story mixed-used skyscraperProject worked on while employed at SOM (Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill) L.A. Year : 2008, expected completion year 2015Department : Interior ArchitectureProject scope : Entry Lobby, Residential Level Lobby, Sky Level Lobby, Elevator Lobbies, and Retail AtriumBeing a part of the L.A. based SOM office, I've had the pleasure of working on this cross team project from its inception through the construction document phase with SOM S.F. This project gave me a chance to work with the design aesthetics that I am personally fond of, which is minimal, simple, and rather "cool" in its colour palate and material selections. My main contribution from a design's point of view lies in the Architectural Finishes' design and application (paving patterns on horizontal and vertical surfaces through out), the building's core "Glass Brick" wall design, and the Elevator Lobby's wood slat design concept which was carried onto the Sky Lobby Level as well. In addition I was also put in a position of taking on a project coordinator role at the time, due to time / human resources constraints. This still remains as my favorite and most memorable project experience up to date.
